About Apothecasy
About Me
"Good witches are pretty; only bad witches are ugly."
Hi, I'm Casey — Lead Creative at Apothecasy.
I make fun soap for fun people. I'm a mom, a one-woman operation, and the heart behind every bar that leaves this kitchen. If I don't make it, it doesn't get made — from mixing and pouring to packaging and mailing every single order. That's all me, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
How It All Started
It started at my desk job. I was spending money everywhere else and buying the cheapest beauty products I could find — until one day I actually looked at the ingredients on my soap. Seventy-five ingredients. In a bar of soap.
Then I stumbled onto a TikTok of a woman making soap with just five ingredients — and she'd built an entire business out of it. Something clicked. During Covid, while I was still working from my desk, I decided to try it myself.
One customer turned into ten. Ten customers turned into the Hudson Farmers Market reaching out and asking me to be there every Saturday as their soap star. And now I have hundreds of customers who trust me to make something clean, simple, and real for them.
That's Apothecasy. Born at a desk. Grown at a market. Made with love, every single time.
It's Not What You Have — It's What You Give
I work alone, but giving back is built into everything I do. Ten percent of every dollar I make goes to donations — every single month, no exceptions.
I donate to local food pantries, three local schools, community fridges, Capital City Rescue Mission, and countless other organizations across the 518. Because this community has given me so much, and I believe in giving it back.
So when you buy a bar of Apothecasy soap, you're not just taking care of yourself — you're helping take care of someone else too. Every bar bought, every month, goes toward a cause that matters.
When I Becomes We, Illness Becomes Wellness
I spent 15 years working in mental health, and that experience shaped everything about how I see the world — and why I do what I do. One of the most powerful things I learned is this: perspective is everything. When you do things alone, it's illness. When you do things together, it's wellness.
That's why I'm in the wellness space. Not just to sell soap, but to be part of a group of people doing well — together. Every bar I make is an invitation to that community. When you choose Apothecasy, you're not just buying a product. You're joining something.
I am a person on purpose, building quality products for positive people. And I believe that when we take care of ourselves, we take better care of each other.
Always Handmade. Always Homemade.
There are no factories here. No conveyor belts. No shortcuts. Every single bar is crafted by hand in small batches, using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. I take my time because good things — real things — can't be rushed.
My soaps are goat-free, made with plant-based ingredients that are gentle on your skin and kind to the world around you. You shouldn't have to choose between a luxurious lather and a clean conscience.
Eco-Conscious on Purpose
I think carefully about every ingredient, every package, and every decision that touches my little corner of the world. Upcycling is at the heart of what I do — whenever possible, I repurpose and recycle materials to reduce waste and save Mother Earth, because she deserves it. Sustainability isn't a marketing buzzword here. It's just the right way to do things.
Rooted in the Hudson Valley
I'm based in Coxsackie, NY, in the heart of Greene County and the Hudson Valley. This place — the rolling hills, the clean air, the community of makers and growers who share my values — finds its way into every bar I make. I'm proud to be a small, local, mom-run business that reflects the spirit of this place. #518
